Description

This is an urn, one of a group of ten identical urns located in a private garden on the south side of Woburn Abbey. It was probably created in the early 19th century. The urn is made of marble and stands on a limestone plinth, reaching approximately 2 metres in height. The plinth is rectangular with a moulded base and cap. The urn features fluting on its foot and stem, gadrooning at the base of the bowl, and moulded decoration on the lip, beneath which is a band of husks.
