Description

This urn is part of a group of ten identical urns located in the private garden on the south side of Woburn Abbey. It was probably made in the early 19th century. The urn is made of marble and stands on a limestone plinth, reaching approximately 2 metres in height. The plinth is rectangular with a moulded base and cap. The urn features fluting on both the foot and stem, gadrooning at the base of the bowl, and moulded decoration on the lip, just below which is a band of husks.
