Description
Crowholt is a house dating from the 18th century, which has been reworked and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick with slate roofs, and some later sections are made of mottled yellow brick. The main block is two storeys high with attics and features a hipped roof. An L-plan block of the same height adjoins to the left.
The main block has a projecting two-storey central bay that includes a part-glazed door on the ground floor and three narrow sash windows on the first floor, topped with a stone-coped parapet. The flanking bays contain sash windows with glazing bars, with the left-hand ones retaining wooden valances. The attic features a segmental-headed dormer with a two-light casement. A wooden modillion cornice runs along the eaves.
A pedimented Doric portico, which also serves as a loggia, extends from the central bay to the edge of the road and is supported by four columns. The columns at the road edge are flanked by brick piers. A red brick multiple ridge stack is present, and the other parts of the building have similar window arrangements.
