Description
Nos. 6 and 8 George Street are a pair of houses built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed of brick with a stuccoed front elevation and feature a hipped slate roof. The buildings form a substantial three-storey block with a symmetrical front elevation. Each half of the pair has three windows on each floor, all of which are sashes with glazing bars.
Both houses have a central front doorway. The left-hand house has a six-panel door topped by a rectangular fanlight with ornate glazing bars. This doorway is set in panelled reveals and is flanked by engaged elliptical columns that support a simply moulded architrave and a flat cornice above. The right-hand doorway is identical in design but features a later four-panel door. The houses also have deep eaves with a simply moulded timber soffit and three rendered multiple ridge stacks.
