Description
22 George Street is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is built of red brick, which has a mottled appearance due to the random arrangement of flared headers. The roof is a half-hipped design covered with 20th-century tiles. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a rectangular shape. It stands gable end towards the road at the junction with Duck Lane, making its principal elevation visible from a distance along George Street.
The south elevation features a five-window facade, all of which are sash windows with glazing bars set beneath gauged brick flat heads. The ground floor windows retain heavy glazing bars. In the attic, there are two box dormers that contain two-light casements. The central doorway has a six-panel door, a simply moulded architrave, and a modillion cornice hood. At the rear elevation, there are red brick stacks. The road-facing gable has one sash window with glazing bars on each floor, also featuring gauged brick heads.
