Description
The Wootton War Memorial is situated on a green off Church Road in Wootton. It features a stone Latin cross atop a rectangular tapered shaft, which is set on a rectangular plinth. This is raised on a three-stepped base. The arms of the cross are supported by two decorated brackets, and the dates 1914 and 1919 are carved in relief on the cross.
Attached to the memorial are stone plaques; the one on the front of the plinth reads: "ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THE PARISH OF WOOTTON WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR." The other sides display plaques inscribed with the names of those who fell.
Additionally, a plaque at the base of the shaft is inscribed with "1939 – 1945" followed by names.
