Description
Wootton House is a small country house dating from the late 17th century. It features red brick that is now plaster rendered and has a hipped old clay tile roof. The building measures eight bays long and five bays deep, and it is two storeys high with attics. The facade displays two storeys with dentil eaves and includes eight sashes with glazing bars set in architrave surrounds on the first floor, along with six ground floor sashes. A central classical gabled porch with a broken pediment is supported by paired Doric pilasters, and it has a half-glazed door with a semi-circular fanlight. To the right side, there is a two-bay recessed wing. The side and rear elevations also rise two storeys with attics and feature hipped dormers. The windows are similar to those on the front, but the rear elevation has a tall semi-circular headed window with glazing bars, located to the right of centre, which illuminates the staircase. The house has panelled red brick chimney stacks and a simple interior that retains some original panelling.
