Description

MATERIALS: Clipsham stone.

DESCRIPTION: Stibbard War Memorial is located at The Pound, Stibbard, Norfolk. It comprises a Latin cross on a tapering octagonal shaft with an engraved shield half way up the front face. The shaft rises on a square plinth with decorative shoulders which stands on a two-stepped base.

The front face of the plinth is inscribed with: IN/ PROUD AND GRATEFUL/ MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919. The other three faces of the plinth are inscribed with the names of the fallen.

The top step of the base carries the later inscription which reads: THE WORLD WAR/ 1939 – 1946/ (NAME).
