Description
The Lodge is an early 19th-century farmhouse, with a date of 1818 discreetly inscribed into one of the bricks. It is constructed from gault brick and covered with black glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a service wing at the rear.
On the ground floor, there are two round arch-headed window sashes with glazing bars, set beneath red rubbed brick arches. The first floor features a red rubbed brick platband and three sashes with glazing bars, which sit under flat rubbed brick arches. The central doorway consists of a six-panel door with a fanlight that includes glazing bars, along with panelled reveals and an arch, framed by an architrave with pilasters and an open pediment. The house has a red brick modillion cornice and a hipped roof, with two off-ridge stacks located at the rear.
The north and south gables have 20th-century bow window bays, added around 1965 by architect Bernard Fielden. The rear wing is built from gault brick and pantiles, transitioning to flint with brick dressings.
