Description

College Farmhouse is a 16th and 17th century timber-framed farmhouse situated on Roxton High Street. The building exhibits a T-shaped plan, with a prominent cross-wing and main block. The timber framing is visible with close-studding to the cross-wing and an adjoining part of the main block. The eastern elevation features colour-washed plaster infill and rough cast render. The roof is covered in old clay tiles. The east elevation of the cross-wing has a single two-light horizontal sash window with glazing bars on each floor. The main block has one two-light horizontal sash window and one three-light casement window to the ground floor, and one two-light horizontal sash window and two three-light casement windows to the first floor; all windows have glazing bars. A 20th-century door is located beneath a flat hood, aligned with a red brick double ridge stack. A red brick integral stack is present, and the north gable end has coping. The south elevation displays a substantial limestone chimney breast topped by rebuilt paired red brick diagonal stacks.
