Description

Grove Farmhouse is a large house dating to the mid-19th century, and possibly incorporating earlier fabric. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a banded fishscale and plain old clay tile roof. The house follows an H-plan layout and extends over two storeys and into the attic. The south elevation features an attic storey with projecting gables. The left-hand gable has a single sash window with glazing bars, while the right-hand gable is blocked. A central gabled dormer has a two-light casement window with glazing bars. The first floor has single sash windows with glazing bars in both projecting gables; the central block has a 20th-century four-light casement window. On the ground floor, the central section features a three-light casement window with glazing bars and a high-level transom. The group value of the building stems from its contribution to the character of the area.
