Description

The former Baptist Chapel is a building made of red brick with brick dressings and a clay tile roof, dating from the 19th century. It has a square plan with a small, single-storey projection on the south-east corner. Attached to this projection is a late 20th-century garage and conservatory, which are not of special interest.

The exterior features a hipped roof with two hidden valleys and a brick dentilled cornice. The main east elevation has a central front door beneath a flat-headed portico supported by two columns, which was added in the late 20th century. This entrance is flanked by tall, multi-paned, round-headed sash windows, positioned higher in the centre to illuminate the pulpit. The left window retains its original glazing bars and glass, while the other windows have been replaced in the late 20th century. To the far left is the two-bay, single-storey projection, and on the far right of the ground floor is a multi-paned timber cross casement window under a cambered head. The three-bay south elevation has similar ground-floor windows, with horizontal sash windows with glazing bars under the eaves on the second floor. The four-bay west elevation is similar, but all but the second bay feature French windows with timber panels between the tops and the cambered heads. The three-bay north elevation mirrors the fenestration of the south.

Inside, the front door leads into a double-height hall, around which the former gallery has been converted into bedrooms. The bressummers that supported the gallery are still partly visible, along with four structural, double-height timber columns featuring square chamfered capitals, from which extend four carved brackets.
