Description
The former Baptist Chapel, built in 1847, is an early to mid 19th-century structure located on the north side of West Street in Christ Church Dunstable. It is constructed of red brick and stucco, featuring a central pediment. The building stands two storeys tall and has three arched windows, with round-headed windows on the first floor and segmental windows on the ground floor. It has quoins, a slightly recessed centre, and windows that are recessed in panels. There are three central doors, each consisting of two folds with ten panels, flanked by pilasters and topped with consoles and a cornice hood. Access to the entrance is via four stone steps. The building also has recessed one-storey side wings with doorways in round arches beneath stone tablets and a parapet. An eaves level entablature runs along the main block, and there have been recent alterations to the lower part of the front.
