Description

The building is a canal toll office, dated 1853, located adjacent to York Street Lock in Stourport on Severn. It is constructed of white-washed brick and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick stack on the left end. The structure is a single-storey, single-window range, highlighted by a central canted bay window that has a plaque above it inscribed with "AD 1853," all set within a slightly projecting small gable. There is a doorway in a small extension to the right. The gable apexes are adorned with turned and pointed wooden finials. This toll office forms a group with the Lock shop at the head of the canal basin.
