Description
The stable block, located about 15 metres east of The Stonehouse, is a Grade II listed building dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations from the mid-19th century. Constructed of brick and topped with a tile roof, it is a single-storey structure featuring gabled cross-wings on either side. These cross-wings have brick coped verges and ball finials, with attics that are illuminated by circular windows in each gable. The ground floor has a band and a dentilled brick cornice at the centre. The entrance is located to the left under a segmental head, while large double doors are positioned at the centre, and to the right is a six-panelled door, also under a segmental head. At the centre of the roof, there is an octagonal open-sided cupola topped with a leaded dome, which features a wrought iron weather vane and a clock at its base. This building is included for its group value.
