Description
This building is a barn and cart shed, dating from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is situated about 25 metres south-east of Lower Blackstone Farmhouse. The structure has six roof bays arranged in a north/south orientation; the three southern bays form the barn, while the other three bays serve as a cart shed. The building is constructed of brick and topped with a tile roof, featuring a dentilled brick cornice. The barn includes a central cart entrance with a semi-elliptical arch and a two-leaf boarded door, as well as diamond-shaped hit-and-miss ventilators. The cart shed to the right has four openings with segmental arches and square brick piers, and a loft above is illuminated by two-light casement windows on the front.
