Description

Kateshill House is a mid-18th century house with later 19th and 20th century alterations. Constructed of brick with stone dressings and a hipped tile roof, it is three storeys high, with cellars beneath. The front facade has a stone modillioned cornice and five windows; the glazing bar sashes are set under rubbed brick heads with a stone sill band. The second floor windows are 6-pane sashes, also under rubbed brick heads, while the ground floor features a central entrance accessed by a stone perron. A stone Venetian doorcase with an open pediment and engaged Doric columns frames the entrance, which has a Gothick glazed fanlight and a half-glazed door. A late 19th century canted bay window has been added to the left-hand return front. A curving service wing is attached to the rear right-hand corner.
