Description

Upper Blackstone Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse, extended in the late 18th century with mid-19th and mid-20th century alterations. The building is constructed of brick with a tile roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, the gable to the right-hand side featuring a casement window. A dentilled brick cornice runs along the top. The windows on the first floor comprise a timber cross-window under a segmental brick head to the left, a three-light casement under a segmental brick head in the centre, and a two-light casement under a brick wedge lintel to the right. The ground floor windows replicate the first floor except for the right-hand side which has a timber cross-window. The entrance, beneath a gable, is protected by a 19th-century gabled tile canopy supported by plain wooden posts. The wooden architrave incorporates a six-panel door, with the upper four panels glazed.
