Description

Casthorpe Farm House is an early 18th-century farmhouse, with alterations from the 19th century and late 20th century. It is constructed of brick, with a rendered and painted front, and has steep pitched pantile roofs with two brick gable stacks. The building features first-floor and eaves bands, and dentillated eaves. The main block is two storeys plus attics, and has a five-window range, arranged in an L-plan. Windows mainly have segmental arches. The front has four 12-pane sashes, with one blocked window to the left. Above them are three renewed gabled dormers with 2-light glazing bar casements. A central half-glazed door with overlight is covered by a 20th-century wooden porch. To the right are two 12-pane sashes; to the left, a similar sash and then a board door covered by a large lean-to glazed porch, both 20th-century additions. A two-storey rear wing and the left return have 20th-century windows.
