Description
Denton Canal Bridge, also known as No. 65 on the Grantham Canal, is a canal bridge built around 1797. The engineer for this section was William King, who was the agent for the Duke of Rutland, and it was constructed by James Green of Wollaton. The bridge is made of red brick and features a humped back with curved splayed ends. It has a rounded brick arch with ashlar imposts and a brick band at the top of the parapet. The stone-coped parapet has been partially repaired with concrete coping. The Grantham Canal was authorized in 1793, opened in 1797, and closed in 1936.
