Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now a house, built in 1841 by Anthony Salvin. It is constructed of squared ironstone rubble with limestone ashlar quoins and dressings. The building features a hipped slate roof with lead dressings and six stepped ashlar wall stacks. It is two stories high with a five-bay front that has a plain plinth and a coved ashlar band at the first floor.
The right end bay is recessed, while the second bay from the left is advanced and contains half-glazed double doors with a traceried fanlight set in a semi-circular headed moulded stone surround. To the left of this bay is a single glazing bar sash, and to the right, there is a pair of glazing bar sashes, followed by a two-light metal casement. The first floor features five glazing bar sashes.
The garden front has three bays, showcasing a pair of tall plain sashes and a glazing bar sash. At the rear, there are additional sashes and a tall semi-circular headed stair light. Inside, the property retains a stick baluster stair with a wreathed handrail, along with contemporary doors and architraves.
