Description
This barn, located about 40 metres northeast of Astwood Manor Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century and was renovated in 1763, with repairs made in the late 19th century. It features a timber-frame construction set on an ashlar and brick plinth, with weatherboarding and a corrugated asbestos roof. The barn consists of three framed bays and has a central threshing floor. The wall framing includes single rectangular panels with tension braces. The intermediate trusses have two raking struts, while the gable trusses feature three queen struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex. A wrought iron weathervane is mounted on the south gable, displaying cardinal points and a pierced date of "1763".
