Description
This barn, located approximately 60 metres south-west of Ashorne Hill Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some alterations from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and red brick, topped by a corrugated-iron roof.
The exterior consists of a four-bay structure, with a threshing floor positioned to the left of the centre, which has opposing doorways. The barn exhibits square framing with braces, although the bay to the right of centre has been rebuilt in brick, as have most of the right return and rear sections.
Inside, the barn is noted for its jowled studs, queen-strut trusses with clasped principals, trenched purlins, and a ridge piece.
