Description

The Thomas memorial is a chest tomb located about 6 yards east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a moulded base and flat capping, along with a panelled frieze and shaped inscription panels that have moulded borders. It commemorates George Thomas, who died in 1815. This memorial is one of several chest tombs in the prominent hilltop churchyard, which also includes the Emiss memorial and the Farmer memorial.
