Description

The Farmer memorial is a chest tomb located about 5 yards southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a moulded base and flat capping, along with a panelled frieze and shaped inscription panels that have moulded borders. Most of the inscriptions are now illegible. This memorial is one of several chest tombs in the churchyard, which also includes the Thomas memorial and the Emiss memorial, all situated in prominent positions within the hilltop churchyard.
