Description
This dovecote, located about 20 yards south-east of Church Farmhouse and Church Cottage, dates back to the early 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, featuring painted brick and rendered infill, and has a plain tiled roof. The building has a square plan and its framing includes four panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. The roof structure consists of collar and tie-beam trusses with two collars, four struts to the lower collar, and two to the upper collar, along with a concave V-strut in the apex. Both gable ends have louvred panels, and there is a small doorway at the center of the north elevation. At the roof ridge, a simple gabled wooden lantern is present. The interior still contains approximately 130 nesting boxes.
