Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 10 yards east of Ashtonwood House. It features a timber-framed structure with brick and rendered infill on a brick base, and some sections have been replaced with brick walling. The barn is partly weatherboarded and has a corrugated iron roof. It consists of three framed bays oriented east to west, with a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, collar and tie-beam end trusses with three long struts to the collar, two additional struts in the lower corners, and a lower rail. There are also two intermediate trusses that are similar, with two struts to the collar and two tiers of trenched purlins.
