Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 15 yards north of Lower Bridge Court. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill on a rubble base, and part of it is weatherboarded. The roof is stone-tiled and laid in diminishing courses. The barn has four framed bays that are aligned north to south, with a wagon bay that includes opposed cart entries and double doors situated in the second bay from the south end. The framing consists of three rows of square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate. It has collar and tie-beam trusses with struts at the gable ends, along with one similar intermediate truss. Additionally, there are two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. At the south end, there is a rubble lean-to addition.
