Description
This listing describes three houses located at 5 Main Street and 1 Drinkwater Lane, known as Corner Cottage. The buildings date from the 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century and some late 19th-century alterations. They are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and feature a machine tile roof. The layout is L-shaped, with No 1 Drinkwater Lane projecting to the south, while Nos 5 Main Street and Corner Cottage are to the west. Each house has stacks at the gable ends.
The north front of the buildings has two storeys with an attic, which is lit by two gabled dormers on the right side and a two-light casement window in the gable on the left. The first floor features two sets of two windows, which are three-light casements, except for the leftmost window, which is a four-light stone mullioned window. On the ground floor, there is a three-light stone mullioned window with a square label to the left. The two entrances have half-glazed doors.
