Description
This stable, now used as a store, is located about 5 yards north-west of the Old Bell Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and has some alterations from the late 19th century. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill, a plinth, and additional features, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of two framed bays and has two levels. The framing includes some replacement timbers, three panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight lower braces, and collar and tie-beam trusses. There are two struts at the east gable end, and a loft door has been inserted, replacing the collar at the west gable end. The south elevation features a lean-to addition with two doors and a shuttered window. Inside, the roof has a single tier of trenched purlins and an intermediate collar and tie-beam truss. The building is situated close to the Old Bell Farmhouse.
