Description

This is a mid-to-late 18th-century house, now incorporating two shops. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a plain tile roof, painted brick dogtooth eaves, and a brick end-stack on the left side. The building is three storeys high, with a cellar, and has a two-window front. The first floor features 6/6-pane horned sash windows with boxed frames, set within gauged brick flat arches. Above these are smaller 3/6 sash windows. The ground floor has a full-width moulded fascia with a boarded soffit, and two 19th-century shopfronts, each with a bay window featuring plate glazing, divided by four deep, angled mullions. Two stone steps lead to a central internal porch, which contains angled, part-glazed doors to the shops. A deep painted plinth incorporates a cellar grille. The interior of the building has not been inspected. Historically, the building served as a grocer's business, with a warehouse (now cottages) located at the rear, which is not part of this listing.
