Description
28 and 30 Bridge Street is a late 18th-century house that has been divided into two separate residences. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile roof with painted brick dogtooth eaves and a brick end stack on the left side.
The house stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The front has a two-window range on the first floor, featuring two boxed 6/6 sash windows with painted channelled voussoirs and keystones. Above, there are smaller 3/6 sash windows. On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with pitched lead roofs, which include 4/4:6/6:4/4 sashes and cellar grilles set in the brick aprons. These bay windows flank a near-central six-panel door that is accessed by two stone steps. The door has a blocked-in Gothick-paned overlight and a small moulded leaded hood. To the right of the main entrance, a moulded doorcase leads to a side passage where the square-panelled timber framing of the side wall and timber joists are visible. The interior has not been inspected.
