Description

This is a house, now part of a restaurant, dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries, with probable 17th-century timber-framed rear wings. One of these wings is listed separately. The front is built of painted red brick in a Flemish bond pattern and has a plain tile roof with a moulded eaves cornice and brick stacks on the right end and side. The front has three storeys and a single window range of 8/8-pane boxed sash windows, each with channelled voussoirs, keystones and sillbands; the second-floor window is smaller. The ground floor has a remodelled shopfront bay window with multipane glazing and a vestigial sillband. A segmental-arched doorway on the left has a 20th-century door. The rear wing, three stories high, has square-panelled timber framing filled with painted brick and a jettied first floor, and a plain tile roof. The interior was not inspected. A house wing was added to the listing on May 23, 1973.
