Description
No. 24 Bridge Street is a house and shop dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile roof with brick dentilled eaves. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range. The windows have projecting sills; the second-floor windows are smaller and fitted with 20th-century 3/6-pane top-hung casements, with the central window blocked. The first-floor windows are horned boxed 6/6 sashes set beneath gauged brick flat arches. There are two iron ties visible on the exterior.
On the ground floor, there is a full-width bracketed wooden hood above a central remodelled shop bay window, which has 20th-century plate glazing and a cellar grille below. To the left, there are paired doorcases with wooden architraves and overlights, leading to stone steps; the part-glazed panelled door is on the right, while an 8-panel door on the left provides access to No. 26. On the right side, there is a passage entrance with a wooden architrave, a wrought-iron gate, and a timber lintel behind, with wide square-panelled timber framing visible in the passage wall. The interior has not been inspected.
