Description
This barn, located about 10 yards north of Shoulstone's Farmhouse, is likely from the late 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure with a dressed sandstone base, weatherboarding, and a plain tiled roof. The barn consists of four framed bays, with a wagon bay positioned second from the south gable end, which includes opposed square-headed cart entries and double doors. The north end bay is likely a stable and has two storeys with an entrance on the east side. The framing includes long rectangular panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight braces in the lower corners, and collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts throughout. It also has a single row of trenched purlins and straight wind-braces. At the time of the survey in October 1984, the roof was noted to be in poor condition.
