Description
Perry Mill Barn is a 17th-century granary that has been altered in the mid-19th century. It now serves as a haybarn and store. The barn is constructed with a timber frame, featuring a mix of brick and rendered infill, and some weatherboarding on the southwest elevation, topped with a plain tiled roof. The structure consists of two plus one framed bays that run in a northeast to southwest direction, with the bay at the northeast end being a mid-19th-century addition.
The framing includes three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners of the older section. The gable end trusses are not visible from the outside. The northeast elevation, which faces the farmyard, has double doors inserted in the central bay that interrupt the left brace, and the upper row of panels is rendered. There are loft doors in the gable ends, and the older part features two ledged and battened doors along with a loft door in the 19th-century bay.
Inside, the roof is supported by collar and tie-beam trusses with struts, and it has a single tier of trenched purlins.
