Description
12 and 12A Pierpoint Street is a house that has been converted into a dance studio. It likely dates from the late 18th century, with a refronting from the mid-19th century and some later additions and alterations. The front facade is finished in stucco over brick, while the sides are made of pinkish-brown brick, and the roof is concealed.
The building is three storeys high and features three first-floor windows. The stucco detailing includes a first-floor band with pilasters that extend to full height at the ends and between the windows, along with a crowning frieze and cornice topped by a coped parapet. The original openings on the first and second floors have been fitted with replacement casement windows, which are set in plain reveals and have sills. The ground floor has been altered, and there are end entrances with 20th-century doors. The ground floor also features three plate-glass windows, with the outer two having sills supported by feet.
The building is part of a group that includes Nos 4-8 (consecutive) and Nos 11, 12, 12A, and 13 Pierpoint Street, along with Nos 4 and 6 Sansome Walk.
