Description
No. 8 Pierpoint Street is a house, now used as offices, built around 1830 with later additions and alterations, including a range added between 1936 and 1975 at the rear. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a slate roof with end stacks that have oversailing courses and pots.
The exterior consists of three storeys with three first-floor windows. There is a central entrance with steps leading up to a four-panel door that has a fanlight with radial glazing bars, a beaded frieze, and a round-arched beaded surround. The ground and first floors have outer 8/8 sash windows where original, and on the first floor, there is a central 6/6 sash window, all set in plain reveals with sills and under flat arches made of gauged brick. The second floor features outer 4/4 sash windows with a central 3/3 sash, also in plain reveals with sills. An eaves band is present. The rear of the building retains original 8/8 and 6/6 sash windows under cambered arches.
The interior has not been inspected. This house has an almost identical design to No. 11 Pierpoint Street. Nos 4-8 Pierpoint Street and Nos 11, 12, 12A, and 13 Pierpoint Street form a group with Nos 4 and 6 Sansome Walk.
