Description
This building, known as 52 The Tything, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and has had later additions and alterations, including a shop front that is likely from the late 19th century. The structure is made of reddish brick laid in Flemish bond, with stone sills and a slate roof. It features three storeys and three first-floor windows. The first floor has six-over-one near-flush sash windows, while the second floor has three-over-six near-flush sash windows, all topped with flat arches made of gauged brick. The ground floor has plate-glass windows with cylindrical mullions set on aprons, and the entrance is a canted, off-centre left glazed door. The fascia and cornice have been renewed. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a group with Nos 51 to 54 and Nos 57 and 58, which together create a visual approach to other listed buildings in Foregate Street.
