Description

The Saracen's Head Public House is a building that dates back to around 1800 and was constructed over an earlier structure. It is located on the east side of The Tything in Worcester. The building is made of reddish brick laid in Flemish bond, with the ground floor painted. It features a plain tile roof that is hipped at the front and has a brick stack with pots at the left end. The building stands three storeys tall and has one window on the first floor.

The ground and first floors each have a tripartite window; the ground floor window has a 6/6 sash flanked by two 2/2 sashes, while the first floor window has an 8/8 sash between two 2/2 sashes. Both of these windows are topped with cambered arches. The second floor has an 8/8 sash window with a cambered arch as well. A cogged eaves band runs along the top of the building. The entrance is located on the right side of the building.

Inside, the front room features an exposed ceiling beam that suggests the building originally had a timber-frame structure, while the beams in the rear wing are cased. The Saracen's Head Public House, along with No. 1 and Nos. 4 to 7, forms a group with Nos. 51 to 54 and Nos. 57 and 58 The Tything, creating a visual approach to other listed buildings in Foregate Street.
