Description
No. 61 The Tything is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations, including the addition of a shop front around 1900. The building is constructed of pinkish-red brick and features a concealed roof with a brick stack at the left end, which has an oversailing course and pot. It stands four storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The first floor has 6/6 sash windows, the second floor has 3/6 sash windows, and the third floor has 3/3 sash windows, all set in plain reveals with sills and flat arches made of gauged brick. The top of the building is finished with a low, coped parapet. The ground floor shop front includes outer glazed windows set on plinths that angle into a central entrance, which features a part-glazed door with an overlight. Above the shop front, there is a continuous overlight and a fascia with a cornice supported by scrolled brackets. The interior has not been inspected. The building occupies a prominent corner site.
