Description

No. 5, St Johns is a terraced house dating back to around 1820. It has since been converted into shops and offices, and includes later additions and alterations. The house is constructed of red brick with painted stucco detailing, and has a hipped roof covered in plain clay tiles. Brick stacks are visible on the right-hand return, with the front stack featuring an oversailing detail. The original entrance is located on the centre left-hand return and is accessed via a door to the right of No. 3. The house is three stories high, with a cellar and attic. It has two windows on the first floor. Stucco detailing includes sills and a moulded eaves band. The returns are detailed with a dentilled brick eaves band. First-floor windows are 6/6 sashes, and second-floor windows are 3/3 sashes, all set in plain reveals and with sills and flat, gauged brick arches. A shopfront was installed in the mid-to-late 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
