Description
No. 20 St Johns is a terraced house that has been converted into a shop with flats above. It dates from around 1780 to 1820 and has seen some later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick with stone sills and features a plain clay tile roof with dentilled eaves. It has a party-wall ridge stack with oversailing detail. The shopfront is made of timber and the building has a double-depth plan. It stands three storeys high and includes a cellar. There are two first-floor windows with replacement 20th-century casement windows, and the second floor has sills with flat gauged brick arches. The late 20th-century shopfront incorporates traditional 19th-century detailing, including pilasters, a stall riser, fascia, and console brackets. There is pedestrian access through an archway on the left side that leads to the rear of the properties. The interior has not been inspected.
