Description

No. 18, St Johns is a terraced house, built between 1780 and 1820, and later converted into a shop with flats above. The building is constructed of red brick with stone sills and has a plain clay tile roof, featuring a party-wall ridge stack with an oversailing detail. The front wall is dog-legged to accommodate a bend in the street. The house is three storeys high, with two first-floor windows. Brick detailing includes dentilled eaves. The first-floor windows are 1/1 sashes, and the second-floor windows are 3/3 sashes, all set in near-flush frames with sills, and each with a flat gauged brick arch above. A shopfront dating to the late 20th century incorporates traditional 19th-century detailing, including pilasters, console brackets, and turned mullions. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
