Description
44 Henwick Road is a house that is part of a terrace built in four separate phases, dating from the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of brindled brick with stucco dressings and features a roof covered with hand-made plain clay tiles, which is hipped to the left and partially concealed by a coped parapet. There is a stack with an oversailing course and pots located on the right ridge. The house has a single-depth plan with an entrance hall to the left and a 20th-century extension at the rear right.
The building stands three storeys high with a basement and has two first-floor windows. The stucco detailing includes sills and channelled wedge lintels with keystones. The windows are arranged as 6/6 on the first and second floors, with the second floor having a 3/3 window to the left and a blank space to the right; all windows are near flush with the wall. The entrance, located to the left and aligned with the windows above, features a six-panel door, where the bottom pair is flush-triple-beaded, while the rest are raised and fielded. It also has a radial pattern fanlight and a doorcase with an open pediment and panelled pilasters on fluted plinths. There is an adjacent doorcase to the left that accesses No. 46. The interior has not been inspected.
