Description
No 20 Church Green is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from around 1800 and has undergone alterations in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with the ground floor finished in stucco featuring banded rustication. It has a shallow-pitched slate roof with end stacks and stands three storeys tall.
The first floor features a moulded cornice and eaves level, with a sill band above the first floor cornice and a string course that defines the frieze. The facade has three bays; the ground floor includes a 12-pane sash window on the left and a late 19th-century shop front on the right. The shop front has a moulded cornice supported by elaborate consoles, a 20th-century multi-paned window, and a half-glazed door with a transom light.
On the first floor, the central window is adorned with a pediment on consoles, while the flanking windows have cornices on consoles. All three first-floor windows are 12-pane sashes with moulded shouldered architraves. The second floor features three 9-pane sashes with gauged flat heads. The central entrance has a pilastered surround, with the banded rustication continuing across the pilasters and forming banded voussoirs above the round-arched doorway, which includes a moulded keyblock and imposts, as well as husk moulding in the reveals and a four-panelled door. The interior has not been inspected.
