Description
No 3 Load Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It likely dates from the 17th century but was refronted in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is probably timber-framed and is clad in painted brick, topped with a tiled roof and featuring a gable end stack. It stands three storeys high and has a dentilled brick cornice. The front has two windows, which are glazing bar sashes set under segmental heads. The second floor features 6-pane fixed casements. On the ground floor, there is a pilastered shop front with a flat canopy, a 2-pane shop window to the right, and an entrance to the left that includes a 2-pane overlight and a glazed door. Additionally, there is an entrance to a passage at the left-hand corner, which has a ledged and boarded door. Inside, the rear wing contains an open well staircase with turned balusters and a closed string. Some areas have small square panelling with a frieze, while the front first-floor room showcases exposed beams that are chamfered and stopped.
