Description
This building is a house that was originally a barn, located next to Upper Berrow Farmhouse to the east. It dates from the 17th century, underwent alterations in the mid-18th century, and was restored around 1973. The structure is timber-framed with brick infill set on a sandstone base, featuring brick replacement walling and a plain tiled roof. It has three framed bays that run in a north-east to south-west direction, with an external brick and sandstone chimney at the back of the south-westernmost bay. The house is two storeys high, with three panels of framing visible from the sill to the wall-plate, and no trusses are visible externally. The windows are all from the 20th century. On the main north-west elevation, there is a large three-light window and a three-light casement with a cambered head on the ground floor, along with a three-light and a single-light casement on the first floor, plus a skylight. The interior has not been inspected. At the rear of the central and north-easternmost bay, there is a lean-to with a catslide roof, which has the main entrance at the north-east end. The base of the rear chimney is enclosed within a lean-to glazed addition. There is also a 20th-century wing and lean-to at the south-west gable end that connects the house to Upper Berrow Farmhouse. This building is included for its group value.
