Description

This building is a barn and cowhouse located about 30 metres west of Pudford Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, standing on a plinth made of sandstone ashlar and brick, with a corrugated iron roof.

The barn is designed in an L-shape, featuring a single framed bay in the east-west limb, while the attached north-south limb, which serves as the cowhouse, has two framed bays and a lower roof. In the barn, the framing consists of two square panels high to the wall-plate, and the trusses originally included four queen struts to the collar, with V struts in the apex. Some of the collars and queen struts have been renewed, and there are slightly curved tension braces in the north wall. A truss above supports the other limb on the barn wall-plate and retains some lath and plaster infill.

In the cowhouse, the north bay was originally floored, but this has since been removed. The walls consist of single rectangular panels below the wall-plate. The intermediate truss features two raking struts, and the gable end has two queen struts with V struts in the apex.
