Description
Monks Orchard is a house located in Knightwick, dating from the early 17th century and having undergone significant restoration. The building features a timber-framed structure with rendered brick infill and a tiled roof. It consists of a two-bay solar and a large external rubble chimney on the west gable end, which has a brick stack. There is also a three-bay wing on the east gable end, likely older than the main house. The property is two storeys high with irregular window placements; all windows are 20th-century casements with leaded lights. The solar has two casements on both storeys and at the angle with the east wing, while the east wing has a brick replacement wall at ground level, with two ground floor and four first floor casements. A gabled, timber-framed porch with a planked door is located at the left bay. Inside, the house features stop-chamfered beams, and the solar includes an inglenook with a meat jack and racks. Adjacent to the west gable end is a single-storey sandstone rubble building with a bay window.
